Look Forward with Confidence
A Pathway for Professional Excellence
Working in partnership to provide initial teacher training, the early career framework & appropriate body, bespoke CPD, specialist knowledge & research and the 6 national professional qualifications.
WHAT WE DO
Our Service to Schools
As the DFE designated Teaching School Hub for Nottingham, Broxtowe, Rushcliffe, Mansfield and Ashfield, Flying High is one of 87 centres of excellence for professional learning, meeting the needs of teachers and leaders across our locality.
The Teaching School Hub will be a one-stop shop in support of teacher recruitment, development and retention. The hub will provide high quality, evidence informed, learning and opportunities delivered through our network of schools and partners.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Our Initial Teacher Training (ITT)
Providing a direct training route into teaching
Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training, is a partnership of Primary and Secondary schools working together to develop outstanding teachers.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Early Career Framework (ECF)
Flying High Teaching School Hub is partnering with the Education Development Trust (EDT) to deliver the Early Career Framework for our Hub locality.
The Early Career framework underpins a statutory entitlement to a fully funded, 2-year package of structured support for early career teachers, linked to the best available research evidence.
From September 2021, new teachers will receive developmental support and training over 2 years instead of one, with additional funding available to support their time out of the classroom in the second year and a dedicated mentor. Support will also be available to mentors.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
Flying High Teaching School Hub is a local provider for Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City schools of both the Early Career Framework and the Appropriate Body services. This means we can provide a unified offering that reduces both the school’s and the Hub’s workload.
All qualified teachers who are employed in a relevant school in England must, by law, have completed an induction period satisfactorily, subject to specified exemptions. Independent quality assurance of statutory induction, through the role of the appropriate body, is important both for ensuring that schools provide adequate support for their early career teachers (ECTs), and that their assessment is fair and consistent across all institutions.
Flying High Hub will use the NQT Manager website (soon to be re-named as ECT Manager) as the main administration tool and schools will continue to use this for both Early Career Teacher (ECT) registrations, assessments and all previous functions.
Schools that engage in the Hub’s Early Career Framework Full Induction Programme in collaboration with the Education Development Trust benefit from a unified offering. Using ECT Manager you will register your ECT, Mentor and Induction Lead to access the ECF training and support.
The new electronic registration forms for ECTs will be available from 1st June on ECT Manager. All the templates for recording information, progress and assessments are the DfE approved templates, available in the guidance. We would recommend making yourself fully aware of the document if you will be conducting induction in September. You can register your ECT’s via this link https://flyinghigh.nqtmanager.com/RegisterTutor.aspx
